You Will Soon Be Studying Harry Potter And Tintin As Part Of Syllabus
If you are a big fan of Harry Potter, have believed in the existence of Middle Earth and often imagined going on an adventure with Captain Haddock, you are in for a treat. That is if you are a student studying in the board of The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE).The rest of you can burn with envy.
According to this Economic Times report, English literature classes in ICSE schools will now teach Harry Potter, Agatha Christie's novels, 'The Hobbit' and Feluda. Syllabus of classes from III to VIII will include graphic novels of Asterix, Tintin, American cartoonist Art Spiegel man's Holocaust saga 'Maus' among other books. Sample this: "One half of me is yours, the other half is yours, Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours, And so all yours." Did you lose me at half? Well, that's the kind of literature, aka Shakespeare, most ICSE students have studied.
Now, replace Brutus and Mark Antony with Dumbledore and Snape. Yes, that's the joy we are talking about. According to reports, autobiographies of Anne Frank, Malala and APJ Abdul Kalam will also be a part of the syllabus.
